This is a picture I did not take of a young woman walking down the sidewalk past the gas station where I was filling up my car, apparently talking to herself and staring at a piece of toast in her hand, held in front of her as one would hold and look at one’s smartphone.

(Granted, an ex-VP I worked for did dub the older BlackBerries “toast phones” due to their less than elegant form factor, but this was, perhaps, a tad too literal an interpretation.)

  1. A coworker of mine would always mock me when he saw me with my old Blackberry. He would pick up his large desk calculator and hold it up to his ear and say “Hello?? Hello?” in an old man's voice. I think it goes without saying that he's one of those snobby I-phone users.

  2. I have a Bold and an iPhone. I am super douche!

However, having had the experience of standing in an apartment stairwell, holding a toddler on my hip, trying to get away from people talking and moving furniture, and trying to dial and order pizza with an iPhone, I will NEVER be snobby about its user experience… 🙂
