It rained a lot at work today. One of those days that sucked if you had to be outside, but was nice if you were inside, in rare cognizance of being safe, warm, and dry, while outside Mother Nature vaguely reminded us that she is big, beautiful, and absolutely nobody’s bitch.

Rainy afternoon.

Today’s white noise was the sound of rushing water, as the roof on our building is flat, and the pipes that drain away the pesky moisture are inside, presumably to prevent freezing. It sounds like Niagara Falls is going to break through the ceiling at any moment, sometimes. Amusingly, one of the main joints is directly over my boss’ desk…

Rainy afternoon.

I was very busy today, having found out that 100% of me has been loaned out to a project involving another team. Well, nothing at work ever gets 100% of me, but I did my best. Writing and organizing and figuring out how people think and how best to explain things to them. I like doing that. I’m good at it, when I get a chance to focus. Ever the mini-Sherry am I…

Rainy afternoon.

I am also in something of a holding pattern. On a number of fronts. Holding patterns, I guess. Patience, patience. Someone is trying to tell me something, giving me so much to wait for at once. But also plenty to do, to pass the time. Create test plans, write blog entries, research companies, reply to emails, paint trim, drink coffee. Tick tock goes my week.

Rainy afternoon.

Had coffee with an old friend tonight, and was amused yet again with how well we get along. I have never truly been able to pin down why, but I no longer care. We have reached the luxury of Old Friends that I am just beginning to grow into with Andrew, and I love it. None of the things that were annoyances or issues when we were together matter anymore. There’s freedom to discuss anything, joke about anything. Still a hint of attraction. In a strange way, I almost think that if he and I ended up together, we’d do very well. And at the same time, I am perfectly content that we’re not, and have no interest in going back down that road.

Rainy afternoon.
