An interesting article. While I may not understand or share strong religious faith, I have always been somewhat impressed with and interested in those who do. People who can reconcile faith (especially Catholicism) and science are truly creatures of fascination. (Though it seems like one must always trump the other eventually…)
In the book A Short History of Progress, an interesting point is raised. If humans were computer hardware, we would be running 21st century software on hardware that has not been updated in 50,000 years. We are out-evolving ourselves, and have been thrown out of sync with ourselves, each other, and our world. As a result we are doing our damnedest to bring on as many kinds of extinction as we can, as quickly as possible. Including our own.
